Long life….it is a blessing.
Considering that there are those that don’t ever get to make it into this world. We could marvel at the amount of time given to any of us that are here now.
Do you believe it was planned from the beginning… The time that we do have here on earth is allotted to us?
If it were so, and it is true that long life is a blessing, then it would be fair to say that some of us are more inherently blessed than others, right?
Or perhaps we could also consider, there is more than one way to be blessed, ways not limited by the ordination of time and space. A few being:
Gaining … it is a blessing.
Have you ever started a task, and in the end have it be fruitless. Just to have remain in its same state, same level of completion for months or even years. To gain is to prosper with purpose. To see the fruit of something, from an effort put forth is a true indicator there is a blessing.
Teachability … it is a blessing.
When we’ve learned all we think we can about a particular subject, and yet… we stay open to learning more, decisively. What a blessing it is to not have to know anything and everything. To not be constricted by knowledge. To have teachability is a weapon that keeps us from becoming a victim of information overload and more.
Peculiarity… it is a blessing.
Choose the peculiar over the familiar. To have access to such a blessing is alone, enough. But to exercise this trait, is to possess the ability to reap continuous blessings. To be peculiar is to be non-ordinary. It is to forsake something familiar or common, for the chance to witness something rich.
Redemption… it is a blessing.
Imagine being in the worst state, at the worst point of your life. Despondent, destitute, perhaps in pain, just empty. Now imagine that that was it. There was no way out from it…. If it turned out there was a way that you just hadn’t discovered would you want to know about it? That way is called redemption. While it is sometimes taken for granted, it’s a blessing that’s readily available.
The Ultimate Blessing
All these blessings can be summed up in one word: child. They are true for children and to those who remain childlike. To be a child or childlike is to want to learn, want to choose different, willingly accept the way that is offer to them.
Children are throughout scripture shown to be a blessing. Not just a blessing, but proof of a blessed life.
Embracing our lives, like a child will also lengthen our days. Yes, there are things to be cautious of, to be responsible and resolute about, and even to solemnly contemplate. And in the midst of it all, we’ll find them to be few in comparison to this overwhelming need to reside in blessing like a child. To do this is the ultimate blessing.
