You Mighty Man of Valor

By: Dave Cole If you were going to pick a person to go out and deliver a nation from the hands of the enemy, would you even consider choosing one of the weakest members of the country, or would you pick a man of valor? What’s valor mean you might ask? According to Webster: strength of mind or spirit …

Follow Strong

What does it mean to follow strong? This week I was reminded of this question as I was following my friend driving to the zoo. I was not very clear on how to get there. I thought (as one often does in this situation), what if we are ‘disconnected’ in traffic? Would I still know …

Define the Swine!

How many of us have been caught in a place that we just don’t want to be? We accepted the invitation, went on the date, started the venture, only to find out that this event, person, or thing is just not working out for us. We are not where we want or feel we ought …

10 Ways to Kill Stress

Yes, we all have at one time or another fallen victim to it… stress. The mortal enemy of mothers and managers alike. Not always of our own accord, but sometimes caused by the external circumstances closing in around us. Studies have shown that stress is one of the major causes of death. It’s been linked …

Words Say A Lot

Don’t they? You’ve heard it said that pictures speak louder than words. But that’s all mental, isn’t it. We can look at a picture and surmise exactly what it is we want it to say to us. Perhaps debate over an interesting piece of artwork, wondering what the artist was truly trying to say with …

Exceptionally Enough!

Am I enough?

Have you heard the statement: “To live a defeated life is worse than than death… ”

Well, the question, “am I enough” is sure to point us in the direction of a defeated life.

What is a defeated life? One that sees no hope for the future. Life has become so overwhelming that we are lead to ask the question: “am I enough?”

But what if we could avoid this question  completely by looking at the bigger, more vast picture. After all, the key word in this question is “I”. And the answer of course is no. Oh, there are moments when we feel like we’re more than enough. But doesn’t it usually always come back to this, this question.

Yes, there are programs and self-help guidance and gurus that will have us chanting mantras of “I am enough” everyday, if only just to accomplish some great goal. But what takes place after the lights go out, the goal is complete and our vision has been short stopped.

Maybe the real question then becomes… Am I available? And in that, am I teachable and correctable? This question is really enough.

Where Are You?

A wise man once told me: “Every tub sits on its own bottom.” What he was really trying to tell me was, “take responsibility.” Basically, stop the playgrounds and tricks. It’s time to handle those things that mattered. (You know, the ones calling out to us that we’d rather ignore.) After all, we have bigger, better fish …

The Deception of Perfection…

Once upon a time there was a princess. Let’s call her Princess Perfect, she lived on a hill and did everything right. To the point where she didn’t have any spots or wrinkles on her. Her prince came to save her one day, but found out that the princess had everything together. So she didn’t …

A New Perspective

Sometimes it’s just good to see things from a “different perspective.” We’ve all heard this stated at one time or another. Notice that in this phrase, it doesn’t emphasize the same, it is always another. One that is different or outside of our current way of seeing things. Not the same and bigger or smaller… …

The Other Side of Entitlement

Imagine this… You wake up, get your day started, and all of a sudden… fear kicks in. Fear of missing something maybe. Fear of not saying the right thing. Fear of not doing the right thing.  The awesome thing about fear is that it can be a clear indicator that we do in fact plan …

Be All In.

What do you think of when you hear this: “Be all in.” Does it conjure up the image of jumping in a pool? How about the image of standing at the edge of a pool and being absolutely sure that you want to jump in, and diving in deep… as in ‘all in.’  Because if you’re not …

Welcome… So Glad You’re Here!

Warning: My story is not politically correct and neither are my thoughts. I hate politics. I respect government. I have to. I love people. Because I am loved with a love more passionate and purposeful than most can imagine. I adore children. Because they remind me to be teachable and correctable. I am emotional. Who …
