There’s a saying from a famous show here in America called, Seinfeld. The saying is well-known to this show’s fans… It is, “Not that there’s anything wrong with that.”
It is said with a kind of tone that signifies that the person that’s saying it, is saying it with their mouth, but they don’t really mean it in their hearts. They’re saying it because it’s “the right thing” to say in order not to appear judgmental, controversial, or to otherwise cause friction. They are saying it with their mouth, but, because they are, they most likely believe the exact opposite. How they feel about “it” in their heart (whatever it is), is different.
It’s meant to cause a laugh or rather to be humorous, because everyone knows they have felt or behaved just like this at times.
On this Thanksgiving Day, I want to give thanks to a God that is true. Those of us that serve this God can attest to this ‘true-ness’ or rather purity. This purity gives Him the right (and ability) to be powerful, to be mighty. This level of profound purity makes His “might” different from our “might.”
In the bible it says that we are all sinners… we all fall short from His glory (Romans 3:23). Not one is righteous. And because we are not, I’m thankful that God is. I’m also thankful for His word, His truth that says, “Be holy as I am holy.” (1 Peter 1:16). This only means that He has made a way for this… For our words to line up with what our heart is saying. That even though the heart is deceitful and beyond wickedness no one can comprehend. (Jerermiah 17:9), He has given us power by His Holy Spirit to speak words of truth, exposing this wickedness.
“Our God is so big, so strong, and so mighty, there’s nothing our God cannot do.
Thank you LORD for rescuing us from the lies of our own hearts.
